Key ingredients and their benefits:

Our ingredients are selected for their beneficial effects, providing a healthy, vibrant appearance.  Plants, fruits and flowers have been created to provide balance, clarity and sustenance while essential oils contribute to our emotional enrichment.  All plant oils used in our products are cold-pressed (see below for why cold-pressed)

Apricot Kernel oil  is the base plant oil in the majority of our product formulations:

Why?  It is a brilliant moisturiser, anti-inflammatory, anti-aging and antibacterial. It is good for people with sensitive skin as it is non-irritant and soothing for the skin.  Being light and quickly absorbed, it makes the skin soft and smooth. Apricot kernel oil percolates deep into the skin.  It is easy to apply on the skin as it quickly spreads on the skin and is good for dry, parched skin.  It is ideal to use after a shower to seal the moisture into the skin and does not feel too oily. Once absorbed into skin, it moisturises for a long time.  It is one of the best carrier oils for massage as it penetrates nicely into the skin and improves the delivery of essential oils and other herbal agents.  This oil is also good for infusing with herbs and absorbing their essence.  It can be utilized for various kinds of massage that require an oil.

Rosehip oil:

It is like a multivitamin for your skin: rich in essential fatty acids, vitamins and antioxidants that are essential for skin health.  It is a naturally rich source of essential fatty acids omega-3, 6 and 9 fatty acids.  These fatty acids are vital for our general health and the health of our skin — but our bodies are unable to produce them.   Essential fatty acids (EFAs) help to regenerate skin cells and repair damaged skin tissue.

The EFAs in rosehip oil quench dry, sun damaged skin and help to improve the appearance of burns, scars, wrinkles and stretch marks.

 Hemp oil:

Hemp oil is obtained by pressing the raw seeds of the hemp plant, scientifically called Cannabis sativa.

Hemp seeds are rich in protein, polyunsaturated fatty acids, omega-3 and 6 and insoluble fibre. They are a good source of tocopherols - or Vitamin E antioxidants - and are  packed with minerals  such as potassium, magnesium, iron, zinc, calcium, phosphorus and micro-elements such as strontium, thorium, arsenic and chromium.

It can be used to counteract aging skin. Several studies show that the linoleic acid present in hemp oil can slow down the aging process and fight psoriasis. It also regenerates & energises the skin’s protective layer.  Due to its high content of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids, it has a composition similar to skin lipids, which makes it an excellent natural emollient and moisturiser.  It is especially useful for dry, tired or dehydrated skin and nails and increases the skin elasticity and water retention capacity in tissues.

Jojoba oil:

Jojoba oil differs from most other plant-based oils and is commonly used in cosmetics as it especially well-suited for treating skin problems, likely because of its similarity to the sebum that occurs naturally in our own skin.

Jojoba treats acne and is a non-comedogenic.  An acne treatment is using jojoba oil in a clay facial mask.  Since it has anti-inflammatory properties it may work as an acne "spot treatment" when mixed with tea tree oil.   It can be a treatment for psoriasis and aids in the healing of sunburn, chapped skin and other skin ailments.  It helps the healing of wounds and may help lessen the appearance of other skin lesions such as stretch marks.

Why Cold pressed?

When plant seeds are cold-pressed they retain healthy antioxidants that are otherwise damaged by being exposed to heat.  Antioxidants help combat free radicals that cause cell damage in the body. Most cold pressed oils are rich in vitamin E, which has anti-inflammatory and healing properties.
